YESTERDAY’S USDA ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 4.0 days suitable for fieldwork on average last week around the state. Illinois’ average temperature was 75.5 degrees last week, 0.9 degrees below normal. The statewide precipitation averaged 1.93 inches last week, 1.13 inches above normal. As of Sunday, corn silking around the state was at 62%, compared to the 5-year average of 45% and corn in the dough stage was at 8%, compared to the 5-year average of 3%. The corn condition was rated 7% poor to very poor, 20% fair, 57% good, and 16% excellent. Soybeans blooming hit 66%, compared to the 5-year average of 40% and beans setting pods were at 28%, compared to the 5-year average of 9%. The bean condition was rated 6% poor to very poor, 21% fair, 64% good, and 9% excellent. Winter wheat harvested for grain reached 96%, compared to the 5-year average of 93%.
