‘WHAT’S HAPPENING’ THIS WEEKEND

(OLNEY) The next Queen of Hearts drawing at the Olney VFW is coming up at 4:00 this Sunday. The jackpot will be over $3,000 to the winner, if present. Everyone at the VFW says “thank you” for the support of all our local Veterans, their families, and our community.

(DIETERICH) The Dual Parish Lutheran Youth Fellowship will host a a free-will donation pulled pork lunch this coming Sunday at the St. Paul Church, just north of Dieterich, along the Dieterich/Montrose Blacktop, with serving from 11:00 to 1:00. The lunch will feature a pulled pork sandwich, German potato salad, baked beans, dessert, and drink by donation, plus one pound containers of pulled pork will be available to go for $5.00 each. All proceeds go towards the upcoming LYF trip to the National Youth Gathering later this summer.

(NEWTON) The Newton American Legion Post 20 will host a Sunday Brunch this coming weekend with serving from 10:00 until 1:00 and an all-you-can-eat Brunch Buffet, including several hot bar items & a salad bar. The cost will be $15.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids 10 & younger. That’s this Sunday and every other Sunday at 108 East Jourdan in Newton.

(STE. MARIE) The annual Valentine Breakfast is this coming Sunday morning at the St. Valentine Hall in the Bend, at 4841 North 2125th Street, southwest of Oblong, with serving from 8:00 to 12:00 noon. The menu includes biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, Hartrich’s sausage, potato casserole, breakfast breads & sweets, fruit cocktail, and drinks with tickets at the door. $10 for adults, $5 for adult meal refills, and $5 for children age 3 to 10. Carryouts will be available and all are invited. The annual Valentine Breakfast this Sunday morning.

(PARKERSBURG) The Parkersburg Community Club will have its annual pancake, sausage, biscuits, and gravy fundraising breakfast this Saturday morning, with serving from 6:30 to 11:00 at the Community Building in Parkersburg. It’s all-you-can-eat for donations at the door. All the money raised will go to support community projects in Parkersburg.

(NEWTON) It’s another Queen of Hearts drawing this Friday night at 6:30 at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton, with tickets on sale up until draw time, and a jackpot at $31,775. The Queen’s Menu includes a choice of meatloaf or pork loin dinners, priced at $13.00 each with sides and serving to start at 5:00. (OLNEY) The Richland County Long Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will have its annual Hunting Heritage Banquet this Friday night at the Eagles in Olney. With the doors open at 6:00, a social hour will be followed by a meal, plus a chance to win by bids or by raffles all types of sporting art, outdoor equipment, unique firearms, knives, wildlife calls, and much more. Tickets are now on sale at $50 for singles or $70 for couples by calling Brad at 618-843-7967. That’s Friday night at the Eagles in Olney.

(OLNEY) Ticket sales begin today at local banks in Olney for the upcoming “GUNS’n’HOSES” Braggin’ Rights Basketball Game, set for Saturday, February 22nd, at the Richland County Middle School Gym in Olney. The $5.00 general admission ticket sales will support our local Richland County Special Olympics program with year-round competition expenses. With the doors opening at 6:00, the first of three games will begin at 6:30. Two exhibition games will feature the Olney Rebels Special Olympic’s players with countywide law enforcement officers and firemen, all to be followed by the Braggin’ Rights game as the firemen and officers will play for a traveling trophy.
