(OLNEY/NEWTON) As the frontal boundary finally moves out of Illinois with the help of an approaching cold front, we could have some lingering showers and thunderstorms today with maybe some spotty rain or drizzle tonight through tomorrow morning. Then colder air moves in for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with eventually some sunshine and a litle warmer air moving in for the weekend. With a warm up expected by the first of next week, our next chance of rain is Sunday night. (LINCOLN) The National Weather Service has a Flood Watch in effect until 1:00 today for our entire listening area. It’s all due to the one to two inches of rain, up to three inches in some isolated areas, that fell overnight through early this morning. Be listening to a NOAA Weather Alert Radio in the event any Flood Warnings are issued. Since late last night, the NWS in Lincoln had issued five severe thunderstorm warnings and one tornado warning up to this point in time, mostly in the counties of Wayne, Edwards, and Wabash. The NWS in Paducah has issued several tornado warnings for Hamilton, White, and other counties to our south. Most of the storms not only had heavy rains, but dangerous lightning as well.
