THURSDAY WEATHER DISCUSSION (02/15/2024)

(OLNEY/NEWTON) As a fast-moving weather disturbance moves across our downstate area early this morning, we’ll likely have some quick rain showers or sprinkles, but we’ll dry out for the rest of the day with some sunshine returning to the Thursday forecast. After a quiet night, two pieces of a shortwave disturbance will basically merge to give us some wintry weather starting with early morning snow on Friday, likely to change to rain with a slight warmup later in the morning, then changing back to snow as colder air moves in with a frontal system passage. Up to one or two inches of snow is possible along and south of the I-70 corridor. Then behind the system will be a gusty northwesterly wind flow with colder air moving in, but only for Saturday as a high pressure quickly moves in with warmer air on Sunday and into the first of next week. Stay tuned for continued weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for more weather information and forecast details.
