THURSDAY MORNING WEATHER DISCUSSION (07/31/2025)

(OLNEY/NEWTON) As a cold front settles southward into the Ohio River Valley by later today, a high pressure ridge will build into the Upper Midwest by tonight. For our downstate area, that means some scattered rain this morning, followed by dry weather conditions the rest of this Thursday with north/northeast wind by tonight. We are then dry with less humidity and below normal temperatures tomorrow through Sunday. While our next significant chance of rain is early next week, the wildfire smoke from Canada will affect the air quality in Illinois, but mostly for upstate areas this weekend. Stay tuned for weather updates and monitor a NOAA Weather Alert Radio for weather forecast details.
