(NEWTON/OLNEY) With springtime approaching, regional residents should be alert to home repair and driveway paving scams. The fraudulent contractors are looking to make any needed repairs to farm buildings, sheds, and/or houses, and trying to pave driveways or parking pads at homes or farm buildings. The problem is these contractors want some or all of the money up front, before the work is started, and then they disappear before the work is finished. Residents are encouraged to get workers that are known locally to do any type of work needed and to ask and check on references. Do not use unfamiliar contractors.
