REGULAR MEETING FOR 9/8/25

(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last night in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : held a public hearing for nearly 90 minutes to hear from many Olney residents concerning cannabis-related zoning amendments, although the Council took no action on the issue : in other business, the Council agreed to spend $150 for a plaque to be made and hung at Musgrove Park in honor of the Musgrove Family : agreed to sell three 1998 Dodge pickup trucks owned by the City and used in the Park Department : accepted the $14,798 quote to purchase a new replacement Christmas Light Scene for the Olney City Park gazebo : approved the $51,605 quote to purchase new radios for the Olney Police Department & Olney Fire Department compatible to the new County-Wide Radio & Communication System project for emergency services : agreed to seek bids for the City’s North Avenue Waterline project : approved an ordinance entering into a partnership with the Olney and Greater Richland County Chamber of Commerce whereas liability insurance costs will be shared for downtown city events : two agenda items were tabled – a tourism grant request and an ordinance to amend the City’s municipal code for zoning : after an executive session, the Council approved a letter of intent with RoofConnect Logistics Inc. for a roof lease agreement involving the City-owned Pacific Cycle building and its roof : the next regular meeting for the Olney City Council will be September 22nd, although the Council will have a special meeting next Monday, on September 15th.
