(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met in regular session last night. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : accepted the $13,480 quote to purchase a new drone for the Olney Police Department : agreed to contribute $15,000 to the July 4th Fireworks Display in Olney : approved the yearly lease agreement between the City of Olney and the Richland County Farm & Fair Association : agreed to apply for a FEMA Grant to purchase a Ladder Truck for the Olney Fire Department – a multi-year process : approved the final $20,000 contribution to the Olney Chamber of Commerce for the White Squirrel Blackout 2024 Eclipse Event : approved an agreement with Charleston Engineering for consulting services for the City of Olney’s Sanitary Sewer Relining Grant : approved five raffle license requests as presented : approved a request to close a portion of Whittle Avenue on August 3rd, 2024, for the Annual Pig & Swig Event : took no action on an ordinance to allow hunting on East Fork Lake property : and after an executive session, appointed Cortney Runyon as the City of Olney’s new Water Plant Supervisor as of May 1st, 2024 : the next regular meeting for the Olney City Council will be Monday night, February 26th, 2024.
