(SPRINGFIELD) Two sweeping digital currency bills touted as a win for consumer protection has critics warning Illinois may be choking off innovation in one of the fastest growing corners of the economy. Supporters say the laws that Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into effect mark an important step in preventing fraud and building trust. Critics warn that the new rules risk driving, not only innovation, but many businesses out of the state.

(CHICAGO) Amidst continued immigration enforcement efforts under the Donald Trump administration in Chicago, the debate about immigration reform continues. Last month at the Illinois State Fair and elsewhere, many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say the legal immigration system needs to be reformed. Meanwhile, others say policymakers actually should be tightening up the illegal immigration issue, not making it more lax.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has released an update for the West Nile virus. To date, there are 433 total human cases reported across 34 states, including 17 confirmed cases in Illinois. Health officials warn the public that the danger of mosquito season is not over as folks still need to take precautions to getting bit. While 80% of individuals infected with West Nile virus never show symptoms, the other 20% may develop fever, nausea or vomiting, headaches, body & joint aches, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes.
