(NEWTON/OLNEY) Area deer hunters will be back out this weekend for the Illinois 2o23 Muzzleloader-Only Season, running each day this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with all downstate counties open for hunting. Meanwhile, some deer hunters in 23 counties still have a chance to bag an anterless deer during the upcoming Late-Winter Deer Seasons, which will be December 28th thru 31st, 2023, and January 12th thru 14th, 2024. The regional counties open for deer hunting these seven days include Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Shelby, Coles, Marion, Hamilton, and Saline. Hunters can purchase an over-the-counter permit or use a valid unfilled antlerless-only deer permit from the first Firearm Deer Hunting Season.
