MAXINE E. SPITLER FOUNDATION AWARD RECIPIENTS CHOSEN

(NEWTON/LAWRENCEVILLE) The Maxine E. Spitler Foundation has announced this year’s recipients of the 2024 annual awards that went to Jasper County and Lawrence County organizations that provide activities for youth or sponsor projects that care for domestic and wild animals or saving any animal species in danger of extinction. With nearly $32,000 given out to the various groups, here’s the breakdown, with different amounts going to all of the total fourteen applicants. $20,549.27 will be distributed to nine applicants in Jasper County, while the remaining $11,443.10 will be given to the five applicants from Lawrence County. The Foundation is in honor and remembrance of Maxine E. Spitler who passed away in 2019 at the age of 99, living in Newton. The business woman was born in Sandoval, but came to live in Sumner, graduating from the Bridgeport High School & attended junior college at Olney Central College. The Foundation has given out grants for over 35 years. We will take a look at the 2024 recipients in our news reports next Monday and Tuesday.
