(NEWTON) The Jasper County Board met for its regular monthly meeting in March last Thursday night in Newton. The Board : approved the payment of all expenses in February, worth $263,512 : agreed to hire Stone & Waggoner Engineers and the Architecture & Design Group of Mt. Carmel as the architectural firm for the Jasper County Courthouse project : agreed to donate $1,000 to the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce : agreed that all non-emergency county offices and departments will be closed at 12:00 noon on April 8th : noted the great job done by the County Clerk’s office during last week’s Primary Election : agreed to the appointment of Tony Hartrich and Richard Ochs as Trustees for a three-year term on the Wade Community Fire Protection District : approved the County Highway Department road improvement projects for the Run Around Road, Bogota Road, Rose Hill East Road, & the West Liberty Road Soil Cement work : agreed to purchase a remount for Ambulance Service vehicle #2356 worth $167,279 although the replacement work is two years out : and agreed to apply for an 80/20 grant through IDOT for improvement work on the Courthouse lawn : noted the Jasper County offices will be closed this Friday for the observance of Good Friday : and adjourned : the next Jasper County Board meeting will be April 24th, 2024.
