(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s monthly Illinois Crop Progress and Weather Report from the USDA, the average temperature for January was 22.7 degrees, which was 2.1 degrees below normal. The statewide precipitation averaged 1.40 inches last month, 0.53 inches below normal. As of this past Sunday, topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies were 58% and 55% adequate respectively, and 28% and 17% surplus, respectively. Illinois’ winter wheat condition was rated 1% poor, 34% fair, 57% good, and 8% excellent throughout Illinois.
