(SPRINGFIELD) State fire officials are stressing the importance of fire safety while folks decorate for the holiday season. According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than one-third of home decoration fires are started by candles. Plus, more than two of every five home decoration fires occur due to decorations being placed too close to a heat source. (SPRINGFIELD) There was a statewide launch yesterday of Illinois’ partnership with the Dollywood Foundation to provide Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Officials say the book gifting program mails free, age-appropriate books to children form birth to age five, regardless of the family’s income. In fact, this year’s State Budget allocated $1.6 million to the program, which is currently active in areas across 40 counties in Illinois, with over 30,000 children currently receiving books with expansion statewide expected by 2024.

(CHICAGO) Tickets for the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race go on sale to the general public today with the second installment of the race set to take place July 7th next year. The Xfinity series race will be held the day before, on July 6th. Single-day tickets begin at $150 and the two-day general admission tickets cost about $270. Go to NASCARChicago.com.
