(CARBONDALE) The FBI is looking for suspects after a federal building in Carbondale was defaced earlier this week on Tuesday. Authorities say the incident occurred when a group gathered outside the entrance of the Senator Paul Simon Federal Building and someone vandalized the building’s exterior. Anyone with information should contact the FBI ASAP.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office has called for an investigation into the Mount Prospect Police Department after it violated state law by sharing data from automatic license plate readers. The state agency says the information was shared with a sheriff’s office in Texas, who was looking for a woman who planned to have an abortion in Illinois, despite a state law prohibiting data sharing. The Texas authorities say they started the search because the woman’s family was concerned for her safety and her whereabouts.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Treasurer’s Office has returned a lost Purple Heart medal to the grandson of a World War II Veteran who earned it while fighting to liberate Germany. It is the 14th lost medal that the state agency has returned as part of Operation Purple Heart, an initiative that aims to return lost medals to the rightful owners. The Purple Heart was among items in a bank safe deposit box submitted to the State Treasurer’s Office in 2003. The iconic militar honor is given to those wounded or killed during military combat.

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Manufacturer’ Association has announced the 2025 class of inductees into the Illinois Manufacturing Hall of Fame, which recognizes the people, products, and companies that have made a lasting impact on the state’s manufacturing industry. Some of the products being noted includes Kraft Mac & Cheese, which was introduced in 1937, and the Tootsie Roll, which has been made in Chicago since 1968.
