(CHAMPAIGN) The University of Illinois Flash Index fell last month from 102.4 to 102. Any reading above 100 points indicates continued economic growth. The major Illinois tax revenues were down in May compared to the same month a year ago after adjusting for inflation. Both the individual income and corporate taxes were considerably lower.
(CHICAGO) A pre-sentencing hearing is scheduled today for convicted ex-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. The U.S. District Court Judge overseeing the case is expected to consider post-trial motions when he meets with prosecutors and defense lawyers this afternoon in Chicago. A second hearing is set for tomorrow to consider valuation estimates related to Madigan’s conviction on ComEd-related charges. Sentencing is set for this Friday.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security is reminding statewide residents that June is Pet Preparedness Month. A recent survey by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals indicated that while 83% of pet owners live in an area impacted by disasters, fewer than half have a preparedness plan for their pets. (SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Conservation Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Each year, the Foundation honors individuals who have made contributions to conservation and outdoor recreation across the state. Since 2002, inductees have included mentors who have introduced thousands to hunting, fishing, and wildlife stewardship. The deadline for nominations is July 15th.
