(SPRINGFIELD) America’s top health agency is expanding a program to include O’Hare International Airport in Chicago for the testing of international travelers for infectious diseases. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention is asking arriving international passengers to volunteer to have their noses swabbed & answer questions about their travel. Seven other U.S. airports are also taking part. Officials say the locations should provide more details about respiratory infections coming out of Asia, Africa, and South America.

(SPRINGFIELD) Spring enrollment at Illinois Community Colleges increased for the second straight year system-wide with the opening Spring 2024 enrollment going up by 5.1% from the previous spring according to the Illinois Community College Board’s (ICCB) Spring 2024 Enrollment Report. Officials credit the ICCB’s aggressive recruiting and retention efforts for the continued growth. The enrollment growth at Illinois’ community colleges continues to outpace national growth which shows a 2.6 percent increase from last year. (SPRINGFIELD) While last week was Severe Weather Preparedness Week, the entire month of March is also a time when state officials encourage statewide residents to be ready for severe weather conditions this spring. (SPRINGFIELD) A lucky Illinois mother and her family is $1.4 million better off after she used the birth dates of her children and match all five numbers of the March 6th Lucky Day Lotto last week. The Illinois Lottery noted that almost 550,000 winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold so far this month, totaling over $3 million in prizes as of yesterday.
