(NEWTON) In High School Varsity Softball from last Friday –

  • Newton beat Teutopolis, 5-1

The Lady Eagles out the host Lady Shoes, 13 to 3

  • Winning pitcher – Amelia Collins, striking out 9 in the full 7 inning game
  • At the plate – Allie Stanley doubled with 2 other hits and 2 RBI
    • Allie Hermann, Sally Mahaffey, and Avery Mulvey each had 2 hits and 1 RBI

The (24-7/6-1) Lady Eagles are scheduled to begin Class 2A Regional action tomorrow, Newton will play today’s Greenville/Lawrenceville winner at 4:00 Tuesday.

(OLNEY) In High School Varsity Softball from Saturday –

The Lady Tiger Classic involved four teams at RCHS in Olney

  • Olney beat South Central, 13-2 with the hits even at 8 apiece
  • Olney beat Oblong, 14-1 outhitting the Lady Panthers, 13 to 5

In the other games – Lawrenceville beat Oblong, 14-3, and South Central beat Lawrenceville, 13-2.

  • Olney’s winning pitchers – Taylor Bloomer and Kaiya Seessengood
  • At the plate on the day – Kennedy Knox had 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 5 RBI
    • Bailey Rennier doubled with 2 other hits and 5 RBI
    • Rylee Bloomer and Kaiya Seessengood each had 3 hits

The (14-9/3-3) Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Effingham today.
