(NEWTON) Girls High School Basketball Recap

The Newton Lady Eagles swept two games at home against Pana.

VARSITY:

  • The Lady Eagles dominated the varsity game, winning 62-30.
  • Camryn Martin led the way, scoring 18 points and setting a new career scoring record at NCHS. Martin surpassed Katie Lurkins‘ 1,365 points, now with 1,376.
  • Claire Probst added 12 points, and Karasyn Martin chipped in 10 points.

JUNIOR VARSITY:

  • Newton also claimed victory in the junior varsity game, defeating Pana 37-29.

The Lady Eagles are scheduled to host Casey-Westfield Thursday night.


(OLNEY) Girls High School Basketball Recap

The Olney Lady Tigers swept two games from Mattoon at Ron Herrin Gym.

VARSITY:

  • The Lady Tigers triumphed in the varsity game, 59-43.
  • Leah Gibson led the team with 24 points.
  • Aliyah Flittner contributed 13 points, and Kylesse Weiler added 12 points.

JUNIOR VARSITY:

  • Olney also won the junior varsity game, 25-18, led by Marlee Brown with 7 points.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play at Lawrenceville tomorrow night.
