(SPRINGFIELD) In Friday’s USDA Illinois Crop Production Report, the harvested area for winter wheat in 2024 is forecast at 680,000 acres, down 13% from the previous year. The winter wheat yield in Illinois is forecast at 83 bushels per acre, down 4 bushels from 2023. The wheat production is forecast at 56.4 million bushels, down 17% from last year. Area farmers report the regional wheat crop is currently in mostly good to excellent condition.
