(OLNEY) The City of Olney Water Department has announced it will be switching the disinfectant in the City’s water distribution system from combined chlorine to free chlorine this coming Monday, September 15th. The switch is for maintenance purposes and is in conjunction with the City’s biannual hydrant flushing, which is set to take place two weeks later on Monday, September 29th. During the disinfectant switch next week, water customers may notice a stronger chlorine smell while the free chlorine is being used. The City of Olney and its Water Department appreciate the patience of all at this time.
