CITY OF NEWTON TO APPLY FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION COMMUNITY GRANT

(NEWTON) The City of Newton has received an invitation to apply for the Energy Transition Community Grant for a second year. The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is prepared to reimburse the municipality for $61,697 on a project that will increase tourism and invest in economic development. The project currently being considered is the construction of pickleball courts. This is in line with last year’s submission of upgrades to the baseball and softball fields. It is currently the intention of the city to improve or add on to the current amenities offered in order to attract new residents and businesses. Therefore, the residents of Newton are invited to attend a public meeting prior to tomorrow night’s Newton City Council meeting at the Newton City Hall. The public meeting starts at 5:15 before the Council meeting at 6:00.
