(OLNEY/NEWTON) In Boys High School Track & Field yesterday –
The Class 2A and 1A Sectionals were held throughout the state
CLASS 2A @ RANTOUL
- Olney finished tie for 8th place with Charleston at 49 points each
- They each were a half point behind 7th place Decatur MacArthur
- Winning the sectional was Mt. Zion, a point victor over St. Joseph-Ogden, 75 to 74
- Salem was 3rd (62), followed by Monticello and Tolono Unity tied for 4th at 59 each
- Urbana High was 6th with 53.5 points
- Then Rantoul (44), Effingham (35), Robinson (26), and Decatur Eisenhower (24)
- Others included Paris (22), Mattoon (16), Patoka (3), and Mt. Carmel (2)
CLASS 1A @ NEWTON
- Altamont slipped by the host Eagles, 105 to 103
- Casey-Westfield was 3rd (70), then Cumberland (66) and Vandalia (50)
- Red Hill was 6th (47), then St. Anthony and Marshall tied for 7th at 43 points each
- In the top ten were Flora (35) and Brownstown (29)
Then Cowden-Herrick (24), Dieterich (20), Teutopolis (18), and Neoga (15)
- Others were Lawrenceville (10), Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville (8), & North Clay (5)
