(MT. ZION) In Boys High School Track & Field from last Friday (02/23/2024) –
There were nine teams that competed at the Mt. Zion Mini Meet
- the host Braves won the event by beating out second place Pana, 130 to 125
 - Cerro-Gordo-Bement was third at 122, followed by Cumberland at 118
 - Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond was fifth (102), followed by Olney (92)
 - then Heyworth (72), Macon Meridian (56), and Okaw Valley (25)
 
Olney had several young men do well inn the early spring event
- Ian Pianfetti, Gavyn Cothern, Ryan Kirby, Isaac Zwilling – 1st / 800 meter relay
 - Gavyn Cothern won (1st) the long jump
 - Gavin Root won (1st) the high jump
 - Ian Pianfetti was 3rd in the 60 meter dash
 - Isaac Zwilling was 5th in the 60 meter dash
 - Gavin Root, Caleb Mora, Jackson Young, Alessandro Ghelfi – 5th / 800 meter relay
 - Ruger Stevens was 7th in the 1600 meter run
 - Ryan Kirby tied for 8th in the long jump
 - Gavyn Cothern tied for 10th in the high jump
 - Jashuan McKinley was 11th in the 60 meter dash
 - Jackson Young was 12th in the 200 meter dash
 - Brayden Jenner was 14th in the long jump
 - Caleb Mora was 15th in the 60 meter dash
 
The Tigers compete this coming Saturday at the EIU Indoor Meet at Charleston

There were 17 teams that competed at the Roger Minton Indoor Invite at Marion
- the host Wildcats won the event by beating out second place Mt. Vernon, 97 to 78
 - Harrisburg was third at 52, followed by Centralia (50.5) and Carbondale (49)
 - Paducah Tilghman was was sixth (41), followed by two other Kentucky schools
 - McCracken County, Kentucky (36.5) and Marshall County, Kentucky (33)
 - Benton was ninth (31.5), followed by Du Quoin (29), Murphysboro (27.5),
 - Pinckneyville (20), Herrin (13), Newton (12), Madison (8), Carterville (4), Fairfield (3)
 
Newton had several young men do well in the early spring competition
- Hayden Borgic, Wade Ochs, Jackson Sornberger, Tanner Whitaker – 3rd / 3200 m relay
 - Wade Wickham – 4th / pole vault
 - Evan Baltzell, Matthew Haskett, Brayden Bergbower, Evan Zumbahlen – 8th / 800 m relay
 - Owen Schackmann – 9th / 60 meter hurdles
 - Evan Baltzell – 10th / 60 meter hurdles
 - Owen Schackmann – 11th / triple jump
 - Brock Probst – 13th / 800 meter run
 - Dominic Baltzell – 16th / shot put
 - Matthew Haskett – 18th / 400 meter dash
 - Jackson Sornberger – 22nd / 800 meter run
 - Hayden Borgic – 23rd / 1600 meter run
 - Brayden Bergbower – 24th / 200 meter dash
 - Holden Barthelemy – 28th / 1600 meter run
 - Parker Schafer – 35th / 200 meter dash
 
The Eagles are back in action this coming Saturday at the EIU Indoor Meet at Charleston.
