OLNEY CITY COUNCIL JUNE 9, 2025 MEETING RECAP

The Olney City Council met in regular session Monday night and handled a full agenda of city matters. Highlights from the meeting include:

  • Financial Matters:
    • Approved payment of all bills as presented.
    • Approved a payment request related to the Main Street Storm Sewer Project.
    • Approved Phase 2 of the Main Street Storm Sewer Project, valued at $400,000.
  • Public Works:
    • Accepted an $8,900 quote for manhole rehabilitation at East Street and North Avenue.
    • Approved a $5,446 bid to demolish the property at 1007 West Catherine Street.
  • Zoning & Development:
    • Approved a Special Use Permit for the placement of a manufactured home at 311 South Adams Street, per recommendation from the City Plan Commission.
    • Repealed a lease agreement between the City of Olney and Ronald W. Blank.
  • Transportation & Infrastructure:
    • Adopted a Supplemental Resolution to allocate Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds for the City’s Oil & Chip Program.
  • Community Events:
    • Approved street closures for the upcoming Thunder & Chrome Event on August 2, 2025:
      • Main Street, between Walnut and Fair Streets
      • Whittle Avenue, between Market and Main Streets
  • Appointments:
    • Re-appointed Rachel Kinkade, Derek Mason, and Audra Clodfelter to the Library Board.
  • Public Safety:
    • Heard an update on a proposed County-Wide Radio Project for law enforcement and emergency services.
