(NEWTON) In news involving Tuesday’s primary election results. While there is still no official tally available, the unofficial numbers so far indicate that Adam Niemerg will be re-nominated as the Republican candidate for the 102nd District State Representative seat. Early reports show Niemerg is leading challenger Jim Acklin. Official results expected soon.
(NEWTON) In Tuesday’s race to fill a Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge’s position, Taylorville attorney Dennis Atteberry won by only 647 votes with over 27,000 votes cast. Atteberry’s 13,924 votes in the circuit’s nine counties, including Jasper, Clay, Effingham, Fayette, and others to the north and northwest, was better that current Associate Judge Douglas Gruenke’s 13,277 vote tally. The election was held to fill the vacancy created by the past election of Michael McHaney of Salem to the Appellate Court.
