(EFFINGHAM/OLNEY) The Illinois Department of Transportation and Richland County Highway Department has announced upcoming work projects with some temporary or permanent road closures included. Here’s a look at the respective projects coming up :
- Patching and resurfacing will begin this coming Monday (3/18/24) on Route 33, running from Pine Street in Dieterich to the Salt Creek Bridge at the east edge of Effingham – the nearly 9 mile project in Effingham County should be completed by the end of May
- Richland County is managing a bridge replacement project for Preston Township where Hurricane Lane crosses a branch of Coon Creek, southwest of Dundas – with construction slated to start Monday, March 25th, the project is estimated to take up to six weeks to finish – Hurricane Lane from Shipley Road to Timber Trail Road will be closed to all thru traffic
- IDOT has scheduled patching and resurfacing work on a short section of Route 50 to start on Monday, March 25th – that’s from the Ridgway Bridge eastward to the Routes 50/130 intersection in Olney – the work should be completed by mid-May
- IDOT has scheduled road work improvements on the Clay City/Dieterich Road thru the Village of Clay City, set to start in the days ahead – work should be complete by June
Motorists should be alert to all flaggers, signs, and barricades at this locations. Alternate routes of travel should be used to avoid these areas of road work over the next few months.
