(TEUTOPOLIS) During this past Tuesday’s 31st Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial & Medal of Honor Ceremony at the Statehouse in Springfield, State Representative Adam Niemerg recognized five “Medal of Honor” Award recipients from Teutopolis and Montrose. The five men were nominated for the rescue of several victims at the scene of a vehicle accident on September 29th, 2023, involving the release of thousands of gallons of anhydrous ammonia along U.S. Route 40 between Teutopolis and Montrose. Those noted for demonstrating their commitment to save lives were Lieutenant Brett Repking and Firefighters Dan Kocher and Ryan Lee (Teutopolis Fire Protection District) and Assistant Fire Chief David Browning and Captain Drew Pals (Montrose Fire Protection District).
