the Fighting Illini fell to Maryland at the State Farm Center in Champaign, 91-92
* Illinois, now at 6-3, 0-2 in the League, will host Austin Peay in non-conference action Wednesday night

(OLNEY)  in Men’s Junior College Basketball from Saturday – Olney Central College won at home
the Blue Knights beat Lincoln Trail, 101-76 as OCC improves to 6-2 on the year, now 2-2 in the GRAC
* sophomore guard Erikas Jakstys led all scorers with 34 points – freshmen Josiah Wallace added 27 points
* the Blue Knights poured in 17 three pointers, the most of any OCC team since 2004
* the OCC men are back in action this Wednesday night when they host Indiana Elite Prep at 7:30

the Lady Knights beat Lincoln Trail, 51-47 in a game with three ties and five lead changes
* OCC was led by Hannah Coleman with another double/double, with 15 points and 16 rebounds
* Allie Murphy had 10 points off the bench while point guard Haley Baxter had 9 points
* the Lady Knights improve to 6-3 on the year, now 3-1 in the Great River Athletic Conference
* the OCC women are back in action tomorrow night when they host Danville Area College at 5:30

* Pinckneyville won the championship game over Okawville, 61-48
* Flora won the third place game by beating Freeburg in overtime, 64-61
* Woodlawn won the fifth place game over the host Indians, 51-50
* Greenville beat Hillsboro in the seventh place game, 57-49
at the Tip-Off Classic in Du Quoin
* the host   won the championship game over Carmi, 59-50
* Sesser-Valier beat Massac County in the third place game, 72-44
at the Murphysboro / Trico Tournament
* Murphysboro beat Harrisburg in the championship game, 65-51
* Chester won the third place game by beating Steeleville, 59-52
* Trico beat Lovejoy in the fifth place game, 61-59
* Red Bud took the seventh place game by beating North Tech in overtime, 55-53

* Olney lost a tough one at home to Robinson in overtime, 66-70
* Newton beat Paris, 56-47
* Red Hill slipped by Lawrenceville, 59-58

* Marshall beat Mattoon, 43-39
* Effingham beat Effingham St. Anthony, 46-20

 

(OLNEY)  in Boys Junior High Basketball from Saturday – Olney split two games on the road
the Cubs won the 8th grade game at Effingham, beating St. Anthony, 30-27
* Olney was led by Chase Travis with 14 points and 7 rebounds – Chance Hinton added 10 points
St. Anthony won the 7th grade game, 25-21
while the Olney varsity improves to 7-1, the junior varsity dropped to 5-1 on the year
the Cubs are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Teutopolis

 

(NEWTON/OLNEY)  it’s back to Girls High School Hoops tonight in the Little Illini Conference
* the Olney Lady Tigers travel to Bridgeport to play Red Hill
* it’s Marshall at Paris
* Casey-Westfield at Robinson
* and Lawrenceville at Flora
in tonight’s lone non-conference game
* the Newton Lady Eagles head south to Albion to play Edwards County
