(OLNEY) in Men’s College Basketball last night – Illinois lost their Big Ten opener on the road in OT
the Fighting Illini lost at Northwestern, 68-72 in overtime
* Illinois, now at 6-2 overall, returns home tomorrow night for a Big Ten matchup against Maryland
* it’s a 7:00 tipoff in the State Farm Center in Champaign

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Basketball last night – Olney lost their LIC opener at home in OT
the Tigers fell to favored Robinson, 66-70 in overtime in Ron Herrin Gym at RCHS
* the game included 13 ties and 13 lead changes
* Robinson shot 36 free throws compared to Olney’s 15
* Olney’s freshman Braden Flanagan had his first high school career double figure night with 25 points
* Dakotah Brown scored 19 points and Brent Hatten knocked in 14 points for Olney
* Robinson was led by Chance Black with 21 points and Dylan Smith with 16 points
Olney is now 2-3 on the year, 0-1 in the Little Illini Conference
Robinson is 3-2 overall, now 1-0 in the LIC

Olney won the junior varsity game over Robinson, 46-39

a plaque was presented commemorating the first game ever played in Ron Herrin Gym in Olney
* it celebrated the 65th anniversary of that game, dating back to 1952 when the high school was built

 

(NEWTON)  in Boys High School Basketball last night – Newton won their home and LIC opener
the Eagles beat visiting Paris, 56-47
* Newton was led by Nick Cohorst with 19 points while Zach Jansen added 11 points
* Paris was led by Zach Burger with 19 points and Bryce Grabel with 13 points
the Eagles improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Little Illini Conference
Paris drops to 1-3 on the year, now 0-1 in the LIC
there was no score reported for the junior varsity game
Newton is back in action next Tuesday night with a non-LIC game on the road at Altamont
