(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball late last night – the Cardinals came back to win on the west coast
* the Redbirds beat the Giants, 11-6

* those that lost were the Pirates, White Sox, Twins, and Braves
* while the Indians and Tigers split a day/night doubleheader, the Astros were rained out
the Cardinals are back in San Francisco this afternoon against the Giants


(OLNEY)  in High School Football last night – Olney lost on the road at Bridgeport
the Tigers fell to Red Hill Salukis, 63-26 as the Salukis outscored Olney, 9 touchdowns to 4

the Eagles cruised to a 49-14 win over Casey-Westfield, outscoring the Warriors by 5 touchdowns

(OLNEY)  in Boys High School Golf from yesterday’s Olney Invitational at the Richland Country Club
Mt. Carmel won the ten team event by beating out 2nd place Fairfield, 319 to 346
* Flora finished 3rd with 352 points, followed by Paris in 4th place at 359 and Robinson in 5th at 363
* the host Tigers used their fifth man score to beat out Teutopolis for 6th place, each team at 379
* Lawrenceville / Red Hill was 8th at 384, followed by St. Anthony’s JV at 385 and Oblong at 472
individually, Mt. Carmel’s Blake Golden had the low round at 74 – teammate Dawson Brown shot a 77
* Fairfield’s Maverick Conrad had a 79, then Paris’ Mason Downs at 81 and Mt. Carmel’s Wade Ruth at 82
* Olney’s best round was shot by Coen McDowell at 89, followed by Zach Duenas at 93
* Olney’s Ryan Tolliver shot a 98, Logan Muston had a 99, and fifth man Ethan Rodgers shot a 104

the Junior Eagles beat Red Hill, 9-2
* the winning pitcher was Ben Meinhart
* top hitters were Evan Schafer with a double and two singles
* Baltzell, Meinhart, and Jansen all had two hits each
the 12-2 Jasper County boys are back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Neoga

all three of the Olney teams are on the road this afternoon and evening against the Red Hill teams
* it’s 3rd & 4th grade action at 3:30
* then the 5th & 6th graders play afterwards

* on Thursday – EIU beat Indiana State, 22-20 – the 1-0 Panthers play next Saturday at Northern Illinois
* today – Illinois will host Ball State at Memorial Stadium in Champaign – kickoff is this morning at 11:00
* this evening – SIU will host Mississippi Valley State in Carbondale – kickoff at Saluki Stadium is at 6:00
